
Hollywoodinterests have acquired another Lee Falk classic character for big screendevelopment according to yesterday's HollywoodReporter. Once again Ashok Armitraj's Hyde Park Entertainment and HowardBaldwin's Crusader Entertainment have picked up the rights to Mandrake TheMagician from Hearst Corp.'s King Features Syndicate.
Josh Oppenheimerand Tom Donnelly (A Sound of Thunder) have been handed the writingchores for the story of Falk's adventuring stage magician. Details of the storyline are said to be "tightly guarded" but Armitraj told TheReporter that the film will follow the magician from the United States toEurope to South America in a "big-canvas adventure story."
Hyde Park andCrusader made a similar annoncement last week, when they revealed that they hadpicked up the feature rights to Falk's The Phantom. Steven DeSouza (Die Hard) is writing that one.
