Skyfall is a good example of utilizing a director not traditionally utilized in the genre.  I wouldn't mind them looking at directors that could possibly give us another ESB and not another TPM.

The big rumour is now Colin Trevorrow

I'm still down with Andrew Stanton. I enjoyed John Carter and think he had the right tone of swashbuckling high adventure, humor, and romanticism for the Star Wars universe. I would also suggest Gore Verbinski as he had that same tone in the first 2 Pirates films. Neill Blomkamp (District 9) is also on my shortlist since that guy has a keen eye for science fiction and being Peter Jackson's protege doesn't hurt either.

why not just get Uwe Boll. i dont think is screwing anything up right now.

I think Andrew Stanton is a very possible choice, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney picked Gore Verbinski since he had directed the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and brought in several billion dollars for them.

I'm still pretty bummed it won't be Brad Bird, but his denials are about as definitive as they can be.

Jon Favreau is a fan and would ry to stay true to the orginal movie I think JJ. Abrams would be the best fit.

Gore Verbinski would work for me too. But my current dream is Peter Jackson. How cool would that be?

Hasn't Favreau gone on record to say he isn't going to do Episode VII?  I thought both he and JJ Abrams said they aren't going to be involved in it due to the enormous expectations in delivering an exciting film for all the fans.

I also still nominate Joe Johnston is also a another great choice IMHO. The Wolfman was seriously under rated.  It was a very cool movie for me.  Super honest to the original yet updated in all the right ways.

Jurassic Park 3 was a great movie for having to do a third outing for a semi-tired movie franchise.  Great action and pacing.  It had a great screenplay too.

Captain America we pretty awesome and had great pacing for character development. It's vibe was also very very nice.  I also love Hidalgo. What a gtreat movie! Joe Johnson FTW.

My fear is that Lucas is helping select the director.  I hope that Disney is selecting, but it scares me.
