
RipleyEntertainment, Inc. is dusting off plans for a feature film franchise based onthe life of and adventures of Robert L. Ripley according to the HollywoodReporter. Ripley, or course, is the creator of one of the world'slongest-running comic franchises, which started with his strip Ripley'sBelieve it or Not.
ParamountPictures recently sealed the deal for the films after nine months ofnegotiations. Alphaville is on board with Atchity Editorial/EntertainmentInternational Inc.
The write-upindicates that Ripley was an artist, athlete and explorer. He launched hisfamous comic strip in 1918 when he was a 25-year-old sports cartoonist for the NewYork Globe. The initial run was an assortment of sports oddities, although thescope of the strip expanded after a positive response.
The author toembarked on world wide journeys seeking out bizarre subjects for the strip. Suchadventures will be the subject of the film franchise.
Jim Jacks andSean Daniel of Alphaville will produce along with Ken Atchity and Chi-Li Wongfor AEI.
