
Top Cow hasannounced that season one of their Witchblade TV series has beensold into one hundred and fifteen foreign territories and markets worldwide.
The made for TNTshow debuted as an original movie in 2000 and garnered record-high ratings forthe cable network. It spawned a series which debuted in 2001 and is currently runningin its second season on TNT.
With the addedmainstream exposure and Top Cow's own aggressive promotional efforts, thepublishing and licensing sales for Witchblade have also increased across theboard over the last twelve months.
"Witchbladecontinues to be a global force in all media," says Top Cow President MattHawkins. "The comic book is currently published in 21 languages in over 55countries and is our best seller internationally. Domestically, sales on theongoing Witchblade title have been increasing each month with the new creativeteam. Our book store sales of Witchblade trades are up 25% of last year'snumbers and we're starting to receive more spill-over sales from the TV seriesevery day."
"With thethree million weekly viewers for the Witchblade TV show, we're aggressivelyramping up some promotions and marketing to get these viewers to buy and readthe Witchblade comic books or novels," says Marketing Director FrankMastromauro. "TNT has been great to work with and have promoted us on theshow and on most of their other marketing efforts for Witchblade. Our strongestgrowth area has been with the book stores."
