Comics creator Greg Rucka chatted with MTV Splash Page about Kate Beckinsale, who brings his character U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko to life in the film 'Whiteout'.
Rucka said he initially felt the same concerns as fans, who said Beckinsale was too pretty to play the tough lawman, out to solve a murder in the bitter environs of Antarctica. But, a visit to the set convinced him she was right for the part.
"The first time I walked on the set I saw her wearing the wig, and she had on a little hat and they’re doing a scene that takes place at Russian base in Antarctica," explained Rucka. "She was Kate Beckinsale — she’s astonishingly pretty aside from being astonishingly talented — but somehow she really looked like Carrie. She was Carrie."
While prowling the red carpet of 'Two Lovers', MTV News tried to pry some 'Iron Man 2' secrets out of Gwyneth Paltrow. Sadly the actress seems to know little about the sequel (which is set to begin filming in April) other than the fact that she's in it.
"They haven’t even given me a script yet," Paltrow told MTV News. "They don’t tell me anything. I could be, like, a costume assistant in it. I know nothing."
And what of the evolution of her character's relationship with Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark? No clue there, either.
"I have no idea what it is. Jon Favreau said it would be good, so I believe him."
/Film recounts an appearance Dushku made on the Howard Stern Show on on Sirius/XM Radio.
The actress told Stern, "They’re doing 'Iron Man 2', and I’m so perfect for the Black Widow character, that they just need to get into it. They need to understand… I just learned Russian because I had to play a Russian girl in 'Dollhouse'."
What about it Maniacs? Is Eliza a good fit for the part?

It looks as if actor Jason Schwartzman may be appearing in Edgar Wright's 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' movie.
The Playlist blog points readers to a Variety article regarding the 'Adventurer's Handbook' movie. They state that the article contains the cryptic mention: "Schwartzman next shoots the HBO series pilot "Bored to Death," and then stars in Universal's 'Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World."
However, if you actually visit the article, the sentence ends with the "Bored to Death" mention. So what gives. Well, we poked around Google News and discovered that Google's cached text of the article does contain the complete sentence, with the bit regarding 'Scott Pilgrim'. Clearly someone at Variety revised the article and redacted that part.
Playlist has more info. They checked with thier sources in Toronto, who say that Schwartzman has "been on Wright's mind from day one to play the ultimate 7th evil boyfriend, Gideon Gordon Graves."
So why all the secrecy. It could be that Schwartzman's deal isn't sealed yet, and the article was tamped down to protect the negotiations. It will be interesting to see if a proper announcement is coming soon.
