The Canadian Film & Television Production Association have announced their annual Indie Awards Nominations.
The wonderful comic-based (but strangely ignored by the comics press) 'World of Quest' has been nominated for " Best Children’s and Youth Programme or Series".
The show is based on Jason Kruse's independent graphic novel series which is published by Yen Press and Komikwerks. The first season of the show ran in the U.S. on Kids WB! as well as Teletoon in Canada and Cartoon Network in the UK. While the Kids WB! is no more, the second season of the show continues to run and earn awards in in foreign territories.
The CFTPA Awards will be handed out in a ceremony this Wednesday at the Westin Ottawa in Ontario.

Not to be outdone, ToyArk.com has what may be our first squishy look at Cobra Commander and Destro from the movie. They've got images of the super-deformed (or "squishy" as I like to call them) versions of the movie figures, including the two villains. Here's a sampling from both articles.

The Art Directors Guild Awards were handed out on Saturday. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nathan Crowley production designer for 'The Dark Knight' scored an award in the " Feature Film - Fantasy film".
Crowley is also up for one of eight Academy Awards, set to handed out next Sunday.

SCI FI Wire also comes away from the 2009 American International Toy Fair with a first look at figures from the 'Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen'. Most of what they present we've seen before, but they've got a new look at Breakaway, Bumblebee, Mudflap, Rampage, Sideswipe, Skids and Soundwave from Michael Bay's movie.
They don't have a photo of it, but they report: "Perhaps the most impressive Transformer toy of the show was the huge Constructicon Devastator, which comprises six full-sized vehicles, including Hightower (a crane), Long Haul (a dump truck), Mixmaster (cement truck), Rampage (bulldozer), Scavenger (earth-mover) and Scrapper (a plow). All the vehicles come together in a single set and can be used separately or put together to build the one, huge robotic combination."

Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider reports that actress Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel about playing Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. The Black Widow in 'Iron Man 2'.
News broke in January that Emily Blunt was in negotiations for the part, but later in the month we learned that the actress had scheduling difficulties. Her commitment to 20th Century Fox's 'Gulliver's Travels' may prevent her from doing the Marvel sequel.
So, apparently Marvel is still crossing their fingers for Blunt, but talking to other actresses as well. EW says there's plenty of mutual interest between Marvel and Johansson.

Scarlette and Black widow? That's ok with me as long as she can act.
TF2 toys look like first ones. I won't get those either. I wish Bay would have gone with G1 look.

I love me some Scarlett Johanson, hair color aside, they can always dye it. But she doesn't have have the slim/tall physique I associate with the character. Scarlett is a bit short and chunky (the kind of chunky I like) but not BW material IMO. So sorry
TDK keeps getting awards based on hype and box office. Come on something like that should go to IM, Hulk or Hellboy before TDK. Not that anyone cares besides the people getting the award.
While Blunt is a more "out of the box" casting which I think is cool, Scarlett adds more star power which means more money which means more movies. Also, if Woody Allen is smitten with her, there has to be something there... I hear your complaints though. I still say Angela Bassett should have been cast as Storm not Halle Berry...

Am I the only one who forgets that Scarlett Johansson isn't a natural blonde? I can't tell what color hair she originally had because I suck at that kind of stuff, but she was definitely a convincing redhead in Ghost World. Look at any pictures of her earlier in her career and you can see.

She's a good actress but my problem with her is that she's too young for the role. She's 24 years old and Robert Downy Jr is 43, so he's possibly old enough to be her father. Not that it matters, but I would like to point out that if she's playing a character who started out as a Soviet spy, she would have only been like 5 during the fall of the Soviet Union. I'd much rather see an older actress more suited to the ages of the other actors involved in the film (Downy, Cheedle, Paltrow, etc)

I'm not sure why her age is a problem, Iron Man isnt dating her, and even if he was. So what? Were living in the 21st century, how can you be so closed minded and conservetive?

What is it with Hollywood and Blonds. No matter what the role, it's like the blond mafia get first dibs. I like Scarllett Johansen but seriously having the name Scarlett isn't exactly the same is having actual red hair especally when she uh, doesn't. Blunt's a good actress too and she uh, actually looks the part. Call me crazy but I think could be considered a plus. And if they look real hard they probably find iotrher actresses wo look the part that are good.
But again what's the deal with blonds, Charlise Theron for Aeon Flux, yeah cause no one looks more like Aeon Flux Charlise Theron, it's like she stepped off the animated series. And now Sienna Miller as Baroness, how wrong is that, especllay when they could have had oh I don't Monically Belluci, looks right sounds right, desn't a crappy wig or dye job, ad oh yeah, damn fine actress. I'm seroiously havng nighmares of Brittney Spears as Fey Valentine in the Cowboy Bebop live action. Because, of course, no one looks more like Fey Valentine than Brittney Spears.
