Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have enlisted another soldier for 300: Battle of Artemisia, the follow-up adventure to their 2006 blockbuster. Just two weeks after Sullivan Stapleton was tapped to play the lead in the action tale, Deadline is reporting that Jamie Blackley (London Boulevard) has been added to the cast as well. Still no word on the previous rumors that Eva Green could be playing the role of Artemisia but both males will be led by director Noam Murro. Original helmer Zack Snyder and writer Kurt Johnstad penned the screenplay.

Plot Concept: The follow-up will center on the story of Greek General Themistocles, who lead Athens against Persian invaders in a battle that played out simultaneously with the Battle of Thermopylae (what you saw in the 2006 release). Blackley will play 16-year-old Calisto inspired by his soldier father to lead a band of soldiers to war.

Themistocles led the naval battle, so I guess this will be 300 at sea?

says you Sanctum, I've been wanting the Battle of Artemisia on the big screen ever since I saw 300

You wish is granted.

SPARTANS! Hello?  Seriously, all 300 hundred of you are dead?  Oh, bloody hell, we must make a sequel and recast.

Wiseguy 2/19/2012 5:05:10 PM

Dude it's not a sequel in the practical sense only in that it's the second film. The story takes place about the same time as the first.

At exactly the same time.  Themistocles was fighting them off at sea, Leonidas led the land battle.
