Blackmore's Night Concert DVD Imminent
By: Randall LarsonDate: Tuesday, October 04, 2005
October 11th will see the long-awaited concert DVD from "renaissance rock" band Blackmore's Night. The DVD, Castles & Dreams, was released in Europe in PAL format last May; the Region 1 edition for USA/Canada/Brazil/Japan was delayed until now.
Guitar legend Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow) and wife Candice Night have created in Blackmore's Night an exquisite and ethereal combination of rock, folk and melodies from the renaissance era, given a rock and roll edge that never diminishes their medieval sensibility. The band has outgrown its reputation as an oddity, compiling on its first DVD sounds and images that document the band history to date, including the 2004 entire concert at Burg Veldenstein (22 songs performed at an ancient German castle), numerous television performances, video clips, interviews, and documentaries almost four hours of material on 2 DVDs. The DVD comes in 16:9 and 4:3 formats and DTS/Dolby 5.1/PCM stereo sound formats.
