BLADE, the TV series, is set to debut on June 28th with a two-hour premiere on Spike TV. Eleven more one-hour episodes have been ordered, and there's already talk of a second season.

A contest to publicize the show was recently won by Jason Bravener from WI. He managed to win a night on the town in Vancouver and a visit to the set of the show. Ten other lucky winners received Blade 1, 2, and 3 on DVD as well as Blade Oakley sunglasses.

The show's writer, Geoff Johns, recently said that the show's story was "more grounded in the first film. Exploring the mythology, how he got the tattoos, what he did before he was Blade, as well as fleshing out what the Vampire Nation is. Blade is a great character in the comics, but he's never sparked as much as he did in the films. I love the character because he's a tortured character that kicks ass. I like morally gray characters."

"Everyone knows that sustaining a series of movies is difficult to do," said John Kroll from New Line. "As a television series, you can continue to explore the characters and the world in a lot more depth. We felt that this was the time to have the franchise make the transition, and fortunately Spike TV was ready."

Be sure to check out the site, and don't forget to watch the premiere on June 28th.

I hope that this series is cool. I have my doubts, but one can hope for the best.

Yeah, all you can do is hope the production value is quality, the acting not bad, and the story better than Blade Trinity.

No shit! Of course, that wouldn't take much...

Does this really matter? This new Blade series will be cancelled. You watch.

i didn't know Geoff Johns was writing for the show. That's great news, because he's an excellent writer. I think Blade will do well on TV. There's a fan base already built for Blade. This show will be a big hit and will definitely get a second season.

With skill, this show could follow in the vampire footsteps of Buffy and Angel with original and gripping storytelling. Otherwise it'll come off as a campy Beastmaster or Conan hack series.

So let me get this straight. The first ever scripted show for Spike TV, Blade, a comic based character, is set to debut with high hopes on June 28th.

June 28th.

June 28th, the same night any comic fan worth his salt will be in the theater watching the return of the comics industry's first, strongest, most enduring and most heroic character on the big screen.

June 28th SUPERMAN RETURNS.

I do like Blade and hope it can do well. However I think its opening date coinciding with Supes(which I know pushed its date back 2 days) is going to be a tough sell.
Good Luck Blade I'll be rooting for you.
I don't have cable so I coulnd't help you anyway but best of luck.
