Just a reminder for the Mania readers we have who happen to own a PS3 or Xbox360. An upcoming demo of the historic battle themed BLADESTORM: THE HUNDRED YEARS' WAR will hit both the Xbox360 Marketplace and the Playstation Store on Thursday, October 4, 2007. The developer KOEI is hoping to get enough demos out there in the gamers market before the full game hits shelves during the first week of November.

Plot Concept: According to 1UP, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War takes a squad-based perspective on the titular 14th century conflict between the French and English, packing in RPG elements with its action gameplay.

Hrmm, I haven't heard of this title until now, we'll have to see how it stacks against Assassin's Creed coming out a week later

Kaybar, I'll tell you how it stacks up. It doesn't. This is basically Dynasty Warriors with the minor distinction of it taking place in Europe instead of Japan, and aside from some minor differences in gameplay, I don't expect to be too blown away, obviously I can't be sure until I've played the demo, but what I've seen so far isn't striking me as being ground-breaking. Save your money for Assassin's Creed, or Mass Effect if you've got a 360, or Assassin's Creed and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune if you're a PS3 owner. Considering the pedigree of the Ubisoft Montreal team, and their work on the Prince of Persia games, I can't think of a single reason why Assassin's Creed won't be a masterpiece.

thx scythe, yeah Assassin's Creed looks phenomenal

Agreed. I was a huge fan of the Prince of Persia games, the first in particular, but the idea of a sandbox style Jerusalem and being able to assassinate the nights of Templar looks like a sweet way to kill a weekend.
