Blizzard's STARCRAFT II Hitting Dec 3?

It seems we may have an official release date for Blizzard's long awaited sequel Starcraft II. I say may because there's a big event for the developer coming this weekend in Paris and it just so happens that now, three major retailers have went ahead and put the release date at December 3, 2008. Perhaps, they know the announcement coming from the event and had approval to list the sale date. Or perhaps, they're wrong. We shall have a confirmation in a few days if the date is in fact correct.

The three big retailers with the same December 3 date comes from Best Buy, Gamestop and Circuit City.

As of May of last year, more than nine million copies of the original Starcraft installment have been sold since it hit markets over 10 years ago.

Plot Concept: Set in the 26th century, the game revolves around three species—the Terrans, humans exiled from Earth; the Zerg, a race of insectoids obsessed with assimilating other races in pursuit of genetic perfection; and the Protoss, a humanoid species with advanced technology and psionic abilities attempting to preserve their civilization from the Zerg—fighting for dominance in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy.

*shrugging* Blizzard is notorious for putting games out when they are "ready." I've been a Blizzard fan since Warcraft II, so I take Dec. 3 with a grain of salt. Retailers also always give dates like this so they can get pre-orders. I'm as ready for this game to come out as the next Blizzard fan, but if you've been a Blizzard fan for any length of time, you learn patience.

There's a Mantra for those of us that are Blizzard fans. "If the news hasn't been officially released by Blizzard, it's a rumor."

I'd tend to agree with Goldeneyez and Maka. I'll believe it when I see it.

And 6 months out seems a little early for Blizzard to be setting an actual date.

no, really guys, go to your local gamestop and reserve a copy today. better yet, reserve 10 copies, then sell the extra nine on ebay before the game comes out.

Sheeit I'll be doing what I did for WC3 and WoW, reserve the deluxe edition. When that's announced you know they have a release date firmed up. But I'll be surprised if this ships in '08.
