OF course he'd have to make another movie. This one was one of the best (if not THE best) films of the year.
Not doing a sequel would be like Chris Nolan considering not doing another Batman movie . . . . . .Oh wait!

With the amount of bank that District 9 opened up to last weekend (see box office report) and the fact that Sony and director Neill Blomkamp kept the budget low, it goes without saying there would be interest in doing a sequel. While promoting the film on Fangoria Radio, the website posed the question straight to the director.
“I’d love to make a sequel, because it’s so creatively rewarding to me; there’s just something about [the story],” the South African-born Blomkamp told Fango of his debut feature, in which aliens have been living alongside humans for the past 28 years in Johannesburg—albeit confined to a shantytown slum. “It’s my background mixed with the science fiction that I loved. I’d really like to go back to the world of DISTRICT 9—which, without Sharlto’s character, would be a very different kind of movie. So I think automatically the two of us will be reunited again, should the public decide that this film is something they want to see and it’s successful.”
The question is will he do it? After District 9, the man who once lost his chance to direct a Halo movie will have some options on what to do next. We shall see.

I think D10 will set up the rescue mission. D11, after a succesful mission, will have the aliens comeback and declare war on earth for the mistreatment of the alien species for 28 years! ALL HAIL HANSO!...SON!
This sucks, I want another one but at the same time I don't. D9 owns you suckas.
I've been reading some Blomkamp interviews and he said it would be cool to get into the prawns' backstory. He also mentioned he has an idea for another sci fi film and that he won't go back to Halo.
I saw his Halo short films on Xbox Live and they were pretty tight, hopefully he changes his mind. If not Alfonso Cuaron for Halo! Search yo feelings.
He can pull Halo off no problem. After D9 I feel he can do alot with the Halo project, and any D9 sequels.
I'd definitely like to see another District 9 movie. Although this was a self-contained story following the poor SOB company man, it definitely left a lot of room for another film. If they do another film I hope they keep the budget low again to keep the story tight. Take a history lesson from Pitch Black. That was a small, tight movie that knocked our socks off with its look and originality. But, with success come ideas on a grand scale and we ended up with the crappy flop Chronicles of Riddick. Do another D9 movie, but follow the KISS principle; it's worked for them so far.
We knew this would happen and I'm all for it.
When something it's really good keep it going til you fuck it up or if you're good til you wrap up the story.
How the hell was the budget kept to $30 million with all the CG? Did they have a discount coupon?
They kept the budget low by not having to pay high actors' salaries.
This is pretty good news, even though it was pretty much a given with how the movie ended. I want blomkamp to take his sweet time so the sequel will be worth watching, because their have been tons of movies where the first one owns and the second one blows. and that my friends cannot happen to district 10.
As much as I would like this to be a stand alone movie its a no brainer there will be a sequel. 3 years like CJ promised....in the meantime please let him direct Halo.
