Here's a third clip from the live-action version of 'Blood: The Last Vampire' coming to theaters July 10th. In this one Saya and friends are cornered by fuglies!

From Samuel Goldwyn Films, 'Blood: The Last Vampire' brings to life an English language live-action feature movie of the original Japanese anime feature film from a producer of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Hero'.

Gianna (My Sassy Girl, Daisy) stars in the film as Saya, a 400-year-old demon-hunting vampire slayer working undercover in Japan for a secret organization, on a mission in the Vietnam War era.  The cast also includes Koyuki (The Last Samurai, Always: Sunset on Third Street), Michael Byrne (Beyond the Sea, Gangs of New York), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Punisher: War Zone, Clubbed), and Allison Miller (“Kings”).  The film features stunt choreographed by Cory Yuen (Transporter 3, Red Cliff), is produced by Bill Kong and Abel Nahmias, with screenplay by Chris Chow.

'Blood: The Last Vampire' opens in theaters July 10th. For more info about the film visit the official website, the Facebook page or the Myspace page.

I actually saw Blood, last night. It was okay. I never saw the manga anime so I don't knowhow it was supposed to look, but they did this weird digital F/X with the blood that makes it look like clumps of mud. It was worth a watch.

I have to say, that is one HELL of a way to draw a sword.

I'm just curious about one thing:  since when do vampires want or need blunt weapons like pipes and awning poles?  Anyone think those vamps look reminiscent of the ones from B:TVS?

Oh, and when I die, among my list of questions for God is a request for an explanation about the fascination of Japanese men for supernatural heroines in that same school girl outfit?  I mean, I like the Catholic school-girl look as much as the next guy, but they just seem to take it to a few new levels.  lol!

I do think that I'll be checking this out when it hits theaters.  Looks pretty cool to me.

Do they still refer to the vamps as Chiropterans? I know all the Twilight nuts will be going off about these vampire movies/books that are coming out post-Twilight and how they're rip-offs (seen my fair share of these people) - they'll be saying the same about this film without knowing crap about the source material. As for the film, looks cool - just wish the CGI was up to par with films like The Host, Korean FX have been looking great.
