The Dinard British Film Festival's Hitchcock d'Or best film prize went to
BLOODY SUNDAY, BBC News reports. The controversial British docudrama has been gathering awards worldwide since release. The film is a documentary-style recreation of a 1973 protest march, held in Northern Ireland, which ended with 13 civilian deaths.
The film has been controversial in part because it was made with state funds. The killings themselves kicked off a new round of violence in the troubled area and, 30 years on, is still a point of angry debate.
