Blue Seed Vol. #1

The Review!
Let me just start out by saying that ever since I saw the first two episodes of this series about a year or two ago, I've been avidly collecting it in any format available. And until the DVD came out, Blue Seed seemed to be my main anime video obsession. But as soon as the DVD came out, I had to own it. First off, for anyone who knows this series, we all know how good it really is.

I mean, it adds B-movie flavor to the anime scene with amazing agility and grace, with the always excellent 'what-will-happen-next' episodes. So, here's the lowdown. Okay. The hero of the story is Momiji Fujimiya and she has the unfortunate task of trying to save the world from a formerly legend-only demonic plant-like creatures called the Aragami.

Before you go booing in the crowds, let me remind you that this is not your ordinary story... well, maybe it is, if you're a high school girl whose supposed to be a sacrifice for the world because you and your sister were some sort of mythical princesses that supposedly were buried for thousands of years, only to find that your so-called normal life was to be ended in order to stop these creatures that seem to like to try and kill you repeatedly all in the same day. *Whew!*

Anyways... here's my review.

Now for a long time now, ADV Films had done a pretty darn good job of converting its previous VHS titles to DVD and Blue Seed is hardly an exception. With the first DVD, you get the first 7 episodes UNEDITTED and uninterrupted(that is until you reach the end of the DVD and need more of it) in crystal clear video and sound quality.

And the sound is mastered in the standard Dolby Surround 5.0 so, right there, you know you get to hear every scream Momiji makes in perfect surround sound. (Beleive me, after a while, it may get on your nerves... but its nowhere near to the caliber of Nahga's laughing thank God!

The content? Who can complain with 7 episodes on a single DVD? I know I can't... as well as any Blue Seed fan can't complain either, I'm sure.

All in all, the first DVD begins to unfold this epic story and hilarious comedy/horror/sci-fi/fantasy hit and will leave you begging for more.

Overall: 10 out of 10
