Blu-ray Shopping Bag: The Look Ahead to 2014

Darkman arrives on a Collectors Edition Blu-ray

Another week shy on DVD and Blu-ray releases. With yet another holiday upon us, the studios are not releasing any big titles or genre favorites. So it is time to take a look ahead and see what is coming out next in DVDs and Blu-rays. This year I have included links to the titles so that you can pre-order them if need be. I love the fact that Criterion Collection is now including both the Blu-ray and DVD in their releases. This makes taking the title with you so much easier on long trips. Though it might be time for a Blu-ray player for my MAC Book. Personally, I am looking forward to the titles that Shout! Factory has announced. I can’t wait to pick up Darkman, Night of the Demons, Cat People, and The Shadow. All of which have been long overdue for Collector Editions. Remember that no title’s release date is set in stone.

Saw the Harry Potter Hogwarts Collection and was curious how much that would be.

$225?  31 discs?  Really???

I like me some Harry Potter, but (to quote the great Chris Carter) C'MON, MAN!!!

Oh, and I saw Cat People not too long ago.  Good gravy, Anette Otoole was (is) a total hottie.  Meow.

So many cool interesting things to watch and not enough time or money to check them all out.  1982's Cat People definitely worth another viewing.

blankczzech, Mania will be reviewing it! Have one here at the office already!

millean, I wanted to buy the Potter set too until I saw the price! I'll wait for the next format. I stopped buying the seres on DVDs at #4. I only got the last one (/2) because of working at Mania.

Why not just get the HP blu ray collection which you can get for like $40?  What's the difference with this new set other than special features?  Plus the set has UV codes which are balls man.  Anyway, if you really want to buy it just give a few months and it will drop.

Yeah, I don't get why they are doing this Hogwart's release of the Potter films.  Hanso is right about the 8-film set being way cheaper.  I personally want the Wizarding World set or whatever it's called that has all the Ultimate Editions on Blu-ray, but that's another $100 or more on top of this one.
