Brosnan would play a hitman who's in trouble

James Bond star Pierce Brosnan is putting the finishing touches on a contract to star in THE MATADOR, a thriller that's scheduled to film this fall. In the picture Brosnan would play a hitman who, while he's in Mexico City, suffers a breakdown. While his world tumbles around himself, the hitman interacts with an American businessman who's also in Mexico City and is suffering from his own personal problems. So it's got bits and pieces of THE ODD COUPLE and ASSASSINS, right?

Richard Shepard is the guy who wrote the script for THE MATADOR and will also direct the picture. The movie has a budget hovering around $25 million dollars.
