Despite being pregnant while filming is set to begin for HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, the Independent has cleared the air saying actress Helena Bonham Carter will indeed be returning as the evil Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange for the sixth installment in the franchise. Her publicist explained that her scenes will be filmed next April instead of this fall when production starts on the project. Nothing really surprising here because her character has very limited time in the JK Rowling HBP novel.

Here's what the Independent had to say on it..

English rose Bonham Carter has most recently won plaudits for her portrayal of Harry Potter villain Bellatrix Lestrange, the female Death Eater (boo, hiss).

She is cast again for the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, scheduled to begin filming in two months for a November 2008 release. Her publicist said yesterday that Bonham Carter was not due back on the Potter set until the spring.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE hits theaters everywhere on November 21, 2008.

Carter is pregnant, so they have to accomodate for that. I never understood why people like Helena Bonham Carter. I don't think she's such a great actress or very beautiful. Her hair always looks like she stuck her finger in a wall socket. Get herself a hairstylist, Helena!!! I guess being married to Tim Burton helps your career a lot.

She didn't have much of a role in the last movie. Wonder if it will be more this time.

Unlikely. As best I remember, and it should be pretty well since I just finished my third read of the book a week ago, she only appears in the second chapter.

I've never felt one way or the other about this actress, but I'm glad they're making the effort to work around her pregnancy to keep the role consistent over the course of the last two films.

That's a just a DUMB statement...Helena Bonham Carter is a great actress. And I think she's PERFECT for Bellatrix Lestrange.

I think its refreshing to see her in a movie NOT associated with Tim Burton. It's been a while.

But I guess that's the benefit to marrying Burton: You'll never be out of work. And call me a dick, I don't care. Face facts, he put his first wife in every movie he made until they split, and now Helena has taken on that privilege. I wouldn't be as suspicious or annoyed by that fact if she were capable of, ya know, acting.

Of course she's perfect for Bellatrix. She's got that "crazy" act down to a science.

Muchdrama, I agree with what you're saying and you know we're buds, but reread what you typed: "That's a just a DUMB statement..."
Dude that is hilarious.

*SIGH*

Just because she is married to Burton, doesn't mean that he's the only reason she gets parts.

Take a look at her career BEFORE Burton... she was already on the rise and becoming well known for being a character actress a'la Gary Oldman.

Face the facts... she'd have (and had) a good career without Burton.

Helena Bonham Carter was nominated for an Oscar years before hooking up with Tim Burton. She was nominated for quite a performance in the 97 flick, Wings of the Dove.

She probably would have been nominated for another Oscar in 92 for Howards End but her co-star, Emma Thompson, got the nod.

Bit of irony there. Both actresses' characters (Helena Bonham Carter & Emma Thompson) were looking for Kenneth Branagh's affections in the "Howards End" , yet in real life, Helena was shacking up with Branagh throughout the 90s.

Another irony is of course, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson & Helena are all in the Harry Potter series. Haha. Small world.

At any rate, there's no debate on the acting skills of Helena Bonham Carter. She was turning heads and the Academy long before she hooked up with Burton. Even after she met Burton, she kept her skills. She was great in the Michael Keaton film, Live From Baghdad.

My debate was not that she never did anything without Tim Burton. My debate is that, as a product of her marriage to him, she nets any part she could want in one of his films. Or he just gives them to her. Johnny Depp is in the same boat.

And don't get me wrong -- there's nothing wrong with a director liking to work with the same actors, but it needs to serve a purpose. If Burton sincerely looked for different actors for his films, I'm sure he'd find some one much better suited for the roles that Helena and Johnny often fill.

I just think it's sad that Burton has lost his edge in recent years, along with becoming the kind of man who can't make a film without whomever he is married to/dating at the time.

She is a very talented actress. And looks wise, I've always found her attractive. A very unconventional beauty.
