During a mammoth autograph session this weekend, author Marc Scott Zicree and reader Armin Shimerman signed over 300 copies of their new audiobook novel
MAGIC TIME.
The marathon signing, which took two and a half hours, was organized by Blackstone Audio to promote the new release. The event was part of the Book Expo America (BEA). The BEA is the largest annual publishing event, featuring hundreds of industry vendors and exhibitors. The 2004 Expo took place this weekend in Los Angeles.
MAGIC TIME (co-written by Marc Scott Zicree and Barbara Hambly) was released in hardcover last year by HaperCollins' EOS imprint, and is part of a current trilogy of novels that tracks the exploits of a group of adventurers who must carve out a life in a post-apocalyptic fantasy version of America. The second hardcover entry in the trilogy (called
MAGIC TIME: ANGELFIRE) is on shelves now.
Shimerman's involvement in the new audio version of
MAGIC TIME is significant in that it's the first time a
TREK actor has served as reader on an unabridged audiobook.

Zicree (a television writer for both
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and
STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) met Shimerman while the two were working together on
TREK. The pair became fast friends and have collaborated on several development projects since.
Blackstone's
MAGIC TIME audiobook is available now. See below for more exclusive photos from the event.
