Robert Silverberg's horror novel
THE BOOK OF SKULLS has been picked up by Alphaville Films, for Paramount Pictures to release. Scribe Jeff Davis will adapt the book into a screenplay. The producers will be Bruce Bernhard and Sam Gaglani (who brought the property to Alphaville) and Jim Jacks and Sean Daniel, Alphaville's head execs.
Making it interesting is the fact that Alphaville is keen to have William Friedkin direct the picture. Friedkin helmed
THE EXORCIST and most recently
THE HUNTED, again for Paramount.
Silverberg's novel is about a group of four college age men who discover an ancient text known as "The Book of Skulls". It purports to tell of a secret sect that holds the secret to immortality. The four decide to set out on a road trip to see if the sect does exist. It does, and the quartet discover the means of how to live forever: two of them must die for the other two to become immortal.
