My best wishes to Jarrod and everyone feeling the effects of Ike. This has been a terrible year for so much of the south and mid-west with all the flooding and the hurricanes. My heart goes out to all and pray all make it through alright and a speedy recovery.

Back on topic, I saw Burn After Reading and really enjoyed it. Something about the Cohen's style that really speaks to me. It isn't as good as No Country (different type of film) nor Fargo (similar type of film) which is one of my all time favorite films. Clooney (whom I'm not a fan of) was excellent as the quirky sex addict, Pitt was funny as the brainless fitness buff and Frances was good (I guess being married to one of the directors can't hurt). Bottom line, the entire cast was real good IMHO and the story was funny/interesting enough. I'm ashamed to say that I snuck in to see Righteous Kill. Ashamed because I wasted 1hr 41min of my life that I could've used to get a much deserved nap. What a piece of crap. These two actors are legends and shouldn't be embarrasing themselves like this. They knew this director was responsible for 88 Minutes, so why say yes to this. They looked their age and seemed completely miscast, like Carla Gugino would be into someone like Deniro, please get real.

Well, maybe my expectations were a bit high, but I must say that I was a bit disappointed with the latest Coen Bros. venture. It was another "get rich quick - the wrong way" movie, like a lighter, more idiotic version of Fargo... but not nearly as good. Well, it's hard to top Fargo, a movie that SHOULD HAVE won the Oscar that year. Anyway, the characters and acting (or intentional overacting) were very good. And it definitely had its moments of hard laughter. Unfortunately, the story was messy and the timing was uneven. A few times I found myself wondering when it would really kick into gear; it was like being in a car that continually backfires. With some of the worst weeks of movie box office history, if you need your movie-fix then this may be worth checking out.

So what was wrong with Righteous Kill? I almost saw it but had too much to do this weekend. You would think a crime drama with Deniro and Pacino would be easy to do. No way I would see Burn after reading, it looks like a douchebag movie with all those stars and little budget. Just a look it's a bunch of stars I like movie like Ocean's 11-13.

Thanks Wiseguy. I live in Pasadena a suburb of Houston. We got hit hard. I am sitting there listening to the hurricane pummel everything and hear the car port give way. I walk out there and half is gone and half is just rubbing back and forth in the wind on my trucks hood scratching it too crap. So what do you do in that situation I moved it to the neighbors driveway in the middle of this thing. Anyone else down south here? We still have no power just water. This is the first time ive got to use the internet since Friday at work here. Not much fun. So I didnt get to see any movies.

Damn, I hope Jarrod is okay and the rest of you fellas in the area. I finally saw Pineapple Express this weekend and I thought it was hilarious. I was also surprised how much the UK audience enjoyed it too. The whole theater was laughing their asses off. Drug humor really isn`t the U.K audiences bag, but I guess this was just universally funny.

I really wanted to see Burn, but I haven't been to a movie forever. Kids are all in sports now and Sundays are always busy too. It sucks, but at least I have Netflix. Hope all is well Jarrod.
