Box Office: 'Dark Knight' dominates 'Mummy'

'The Dark Knight' flexed its kevlar muscles once again this week, landing in the #1 spot for the third weekend in a row. 'Hancock' stayed strong while 'Hellboy II' and 'Wanted' both fade from the top 10.

The Batman movie continues to rack up amazing numbers for Warner Bros. It took in a whopping $43.9 million according to estimates published by Box Office Mojo, an impressive take for a movie in its third week. It was enough to upset Universal's new start 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' which rang up $42.4 million in ticket sales. The film's domestic gross is now approaching the $400 million mark, which should be enough to pay for those pizzas and bowling balls.

Will Smith's 'Hancock' slipped only one spot from sixth to sevent place, not too shabby considering there are two debut films ranked above it. The movie grossed another $5.2 million for a total of $215 million.

'Hellboy II' stands as another disappointment for Universal, falling to #11 in its fourth week. That one grabbed up another $2.6 million for a domestic total of $71.3 million, not quite enough to cover the estimated budget of $85 million.

On the other hand, 'Wanted' bows out of the top 10 this week as well, with overall numbers that take some of the sting out of it for Uni. The move fell to #12 this week. Its $1.26 million this week brings the overall numbers to $131.3 million.
