'The Dark Knight' continues its amazing box office run this week. 'Hancock', 'Hellboy II' and 'Wanted' remain in the top 10.
The Batman sequel was #1 for a second week in a row, fending off comedic contender 'Step brothers' which debuted at #2, according to estimates published by Box Office Mojo. 'The Dark Knight' rang up over $75 million in ticket sales, which would be an impressive number for a movie in its first week, much less its second. The film has now gathered over $314 million in domestic ticket sales.
The movie continues to set records. It now holds the title for best opening week, with over $238m in its first seven days. The movie also holds the record for performance over first nine and ten days.
'Hancock' dropped three spots to #6 this week, pushed down by the other new start, 'X-Files' and losing ground to 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. The movie took in another $8.2m for a total gross of $206m.
'Hellboy II' also slipped three places, to #8. The movie took in just under $5m in its third week, for a total tally of about $66m.
'Wanted' placed #10 this week gathering $2.7m for a total of $128.6m.
