As predicted, 'The Dark Knight' now stands as the #1 grossing comic-based movie of all time.
The batman sequel topped the original 'Spider-Man' on Tuesday, when it earned an additional $5.6 million, bringing its domestic gross to over $405 million. The Spidey flick took in $403.7 million during its 15 week run at the box office.
Until last week the three web-slinger flicks held the top three spots on the all-time comics adaptation list. On Wednesday, 'Dark Knight' moved into the #3 position, displacing 'Spider-Man 3'.
Interestingly, 'The Dark Knight's move into the specialty chart pushes the original 'Batman Begins' from the top 10. That one is now the #11 comic-based movie.
Tim Burton's 1989 model 'Batman' is the #6 comic-based movie.
The Tuesday box office also makes 'The Dark Knight' the #7 higest-grossing movie of all time, up one notch from the day before. It's also now, the #3 highest-grossing PG-13 movie of all time.
