According to weekend sales estimates published by Box Office Mojo, 'Stardust', the film based on the illustrated novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, debuted this week at #4 on the charts.
The movie took in about $9 million against its estimated budget of $70 million, not surprising for a movie that skews a bit from Hollywood mainstream fare. It opened behind the debut of 'Rush Hour 3', the second week showing of 'Bourne Ultimatum' and the third weekend run of 'The Simpsons'.
In other comic movie news: 'Transformers' finally falls out of the top 10 in the sixth week of its run. The movie dropped three spots to #11 this week. Nobody's crying about this one, having topped the $300 million mark this week. Add that to gangbusters global box office registers and it's plain to see that the world loves them autobots.
