Since David Fincher is currently waiting on the script for the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher has decided to move forward with Disney and their 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea remake. Though the role of Captain Nemo has not yet been cast, Fincher wants Pitt for Ned Lands. Ned Lands was originally played by Kirk Douglas in the 1954 original.

Nothing is official yet Maniacs, so the Fincher 20,000 Leagues with Pitt hurling harpoons may never happen.

If it were to happen, who would you want to see in the role of Captain Nemo?

I love Brad Pitt's work so that would be cool. But even if not just the director and story have me hooked anyway.

How about Irrfan Khan for the Capt.'s role. He seemed commanding enough in Spidey

As long as its not Depp. "The studio wants Charlton Heston to play a Mexican."

I want to see Pitt singing & dancing. I bet he could...

I agree, Wiseguy. Nemo is suppsed to be Indian so it would be nice if they cast the correct ethnicity.

I know he's not "in Pitt's league" star-wise, but Oded Fehr, from the Mummy movies and the Evil Dead films would make a good Nemo. Especially now that he's a bit older. If star power is the plan, you can never go wrong with Anthony Hopkins or Ian McKellen. Any others?

It's hard to guess who they would cast as Nemo.  Pitt is 48 years old so Oded Fehr despite being a relative lightweight for such a big project is probably too young (41)  to play Nemo (I know they can do wonders with make-up).  I'm not feeling Hopkins or McKellen as Nemo. Alfred Molina is talented enough, old enough and physically imposing  at 6' 2"(next to Pitt's 5'11") and could play an Indian if necessary but probably doesn't have the star power.  In my opinion Daniel Day Lewis would be perfect , but I wonder if he would  take the part if Disney makes this flick a special effects driven (rather than story driven) piece. (after all he did play Hawkeye another famous fictional character from classic literature).  If they want to cast an Indian in the part I'm sure there are many super talented Indian Actors who could fill the bill...I'm just not up on my Indian actors outside of Ben Kingsley.

Speaking about the effects...they are more important to me than the actors. I hope they keep the time period of this tale in the late 1800's and that the Nautilus and deep sea diving gear and the vessels that the Nautllus attacks look like something from that time.

Disney could lose the singing in this movie without hurting the story.

Nemo should have a big beard. So I'm thinking Zach Galifianakis.

I think Tim Curry would be a good choice for Capt. Nemo. He has worked for Disney before, and nobody dose crazy like he does.

Faran Tahir could be pretty awesome
