Brisk Sales for CROUCHING TIGER and CASTAWAY DVDs

Sales for CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON were the best ever for Columbia when the film made its debut on DVD June 5th. A total of 1.5-million units accounted for approximately $30-million. This makes it the biggest selling first week of any digital disc released this year; the only DVD to have a bigger opening week was last year's GLADIATOR.

The CASTAWAY DVD may be able to surpass CROUCHING TIGER. Making its debut this Tuesday the 12th, it sold 1.1-million units in its first fortyeight hours on video store shelves.
