The Classical BRIT Awards is the most glittering event on the classical music calendar, when a who's who of the classical world convene at The Royal Albert Hall for an evening of one night only performances and prize giving. Film music gets a nod in the "Soundtrack composer of the year" category and this year's nominations include Dario Marianelli's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Harry Gregson-Williams' KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and John Williams' WAR OF THE WORLDS. Williams scooped the prize last year for both HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN and THE TERMINAL.

The event takes place on Thursday May 4th at The Royal Albert Hall and will be televised on ITV on Sunday May 4th and broadcast live on Classic FM. Michael Parkinson will host the show, which will feature a lifetime achievement award for singing legend Placido Domingo.
