The Guardian reports that characters from the long-running 'Beano' strip are up for a TV series in 2009:
Beano characters Dennis the Menace and Gnasher will return to television screens next year, albeit with a "sharper, cleaner look", according to their new managers.
Media investment company Ludorum, the team behind Bob the Builder, today announced a deal to represent the Dennis and Gnasher brand on behalf of its owners DC Thomson and said the schoolboy will appear in 52 TV episodes from autumn 2009, already pre-sold to the BBC.
"His hair has always been a challenge. Animation requires a character design which is easily reproducible. These are issues we don't have to worry about in the comic," said a Ludorum spokesman.
"The duo is still unmistakably Dennis and Gnasher, subtly changed to reflect the needs of a 21st century audience."
