ICv2 has confirmed withShizuki Yamashita, Director of Operations for Broccoli International U.S., that Broccoli International USA will be closing its doors at the end of this year. Broccoli, who operates several labels such as Synch-Point, Broccoli Books and the recently launched Boysenberry Books imprint, has ceased production on titles that would have seen publication and release in 2009. Citing the shift in buying habits and general lower sales among readers in forecasts and in 2008, it was determined by Broccoli International to cease operations rather than lose money in the long run. Due to the news being so fresh, nothing has been discussed publicly about the fate of these titles in the hands of other potential publishers.
While Synch-Point has been mostly dead for several years now, it's very likely that the relationship that Broccoli has within the domestic industry that their "flagship" and only serious title of FLCL will find a home. Their smaller titles, such as Digi Charat and Leave it to Piyoko would likely find a home as well considering that the various Digi Charat series have seen release under both Bandai Entertainment and ADV Films.
