BROKEN FLOWERS is the new film from acclaimed writer/director Jim Jarmusch, starring Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Sharon Stone, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton and Julie Delpy. Winner of the Grand Prix at the 2005 Cannes International Film Festival, BROKEN FLOWERS features an eclectic array of music personally selected by Jarmusch, including The Greenhornes (currently on tour with The White Stripes), Marvin Gaye and the innovative Ethiopian musician/composer Mulatu Astatke, among others.

In BROKEN FLOWERS, the resolutely single Don (Bill Murray) has just been dumped by his latest lover, Sherry (Julie Delpy). Don resigns himself to being alone and left to his own devices. Eventually he is compelled to reflect on his past when he receives by mail a mysterious pink letter. It is from an anonymous former lover and informs him that he has a 19 year-old son who may now be looking for his father. Don is urged to investigate this "mystery" by his closest friend and neighbor, Winston (Jeffrey Wright), an amateur sleuth and family man. Hesitant to travel at all, Don nonetheless embarks on a cross-country trek in search of clues from four former flames (Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Sharon Stone and Tilda Swinton). Unannounced visits to each of these unique women hold new surprises for Don as he haphazardly confronts both his past and, consequently, his present.

A key element in the film, the music in BROKEN FLOWERS guides Don's personal journey and leaves a lasting stamp on the movie-goer, while also making for a beautifully satisfying stand-alone listening experience. A master at combining cinema and songs, Jarmusch once again presents a distinctive, diverse soundtrack that is central to his storytelling. Highlights include the irresistible lead track, "There Is An End," from current "it" band The Greenhornes with guest vocals by Holly Golightly; the groove-laden "Yegelle Tezeta," performed by Mulatu Astatke; the Marvin Gaye classic, "I Want You" and the rocking "Not If You Were the Last Dandy on Earth," performed by Brian Jonestown Massacre.
