BRUCE ALMIGHTY to build an ARK?

Spec script may be used for sequel

In a surprise move, Universal Pictures, Spyglass Films and Sony Pictures are thinking about making a sequel to BRUCE ALMIGHTY based on a spec script that Universal recently picked up. The idea is to take THE PASSION OF THE ARK, written by first-time screenwriters Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg, and rewrite it so that it's made for Jim Carrey's character from BRUCE ALMIGHTY. Since BRUCE was Carrey's highest-grossing film ever, the prospect of continuing to mine this franchise is too lucrative to pass up for all parties.

Talks are now underway with Carrey, BRUCE ALMIGHTY director Tom Shadyac and screenwriter Steve Oedekerk. Oedekerk is needed to rewrite the ARK script into a follow-up to BRUCE.

Florsheim and Stolberg's PASSION OF THE ARK follows a widowed writer that receives a message from God that a second great flood is coming, and that the man needs to build an ark to survive the coming disaster.
