With the straight-to-dvd release of SUPERMAN:DOOMSDAY appearing on store shelves today, our friends over at Wizard had a chance to discuss some details on the film with co-director/co-writer Bruce Timm. In the article, he went over 5 basic points of interest in regards to the latest animated installment of the superhero shedding some light on who he originally wanted to voice Supes in the animated series, the differences between the comic version of S:D vs. the film version of S:D, how graphic is it under a PG-13 rating, etc..

I am stoked about this Timm and co. have done an awesome job with the DC verse and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

A spy review over at AICN has convinced me to avoid this. And I own every Bruce Timm/Paul Dini DVD-- Batman: TAS, Superman:TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and all their related movies.

I'm jazzed for this too, I just wish it fell into Dini/Timm's all-encompassing DCU. I loved that everything fit together from the first BTAS to the last JLU. These new comic-to-dvd projects are meant to stand alone, with their own voice casts, and I think that's a shame. Heck, it's even a different Superman voice between this and New Frontier.

I sincerely hope that this feature is dramatically better than Superman: Brainiac Attacks.

This is THE Superman story I wanted told for a VERY long time, BUT I would have so preferred this to be a LIVE action film. I read that review at AICN, and I was not impressed with HOW he reviewed it, for me you have to compare this to the source material, and as far as I am concerned, he had no clue what happened in the comic. Doomsday's fight with Superman in the comic only took 3 hours in comic time, which of course was published over a 3 month period leading up to the final battle, and even in that final book, the fight was just one full page after another. I have faith in Bruce Timm, and I am now going out to BUY this DVD. I feel it is not going to be the best, because the only way this could be the best is if they did it Live Action. That would rule.

I just watched the movie it was frickin awsome. I was a little worried since the death and return of superman is what got me to start reading comics in the first place. So I would of been pissed if this was donr wrond but thatfully things were done right. It would of still been cool to see Doomsday kick the other DC heros ass's and have Sup's come in and show them how to do it. But sometimes less is more. This movie only solidifies the fact that any movie that even relates to DC Heros need to have a look over from Bruce Timm

True that rich, I think he needs to be the supervising producer over each story that is churned out for movies in the DC verse. He and his team have hit homeruns almost every time they have worked with the DC verse. Braniac Attacks was the only weak point in his team's career. I don't understand why WB won't let Timm and Co. handle the live action JLA. Honestly who could do this material more justice. Well the only way to top Timm and Co's work is to team them with the Nolan Bros. how awesome would that be?

Haha colour me a liar. I bought it, and I actually enjoyed it. There were a few surprise moments, and the action/violence was great. Some of the voice-acting missed the mark (see Clark's first scene), and the odd bit of dialogue was poorly written, but this is 100 times better than 'Brainiac Attacks', and more satisfying than Superman Returns even.
