The team developing the 11th Star Trek movie is looking a lot like the team responsible for Lost. Bryan Burk, an executive producer for Lost, has announced that he will be involved with the project.

He will be joining Lost's co-creators Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams, who will direct. Abrams' longtime writing colleagues Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who co-wrote Abrams' Mission: Impossible III, will also be involved.

I really like the personnel getting attached to this movie and hopefully (if the rumors are true) they'll give them a big budget to work with. I agree that I'd rather just see them give Abrams the entire sandbox to play in and make whatever he wants, but if a Kirk & Spock prequel is what Paramount wants, I can live with that decision. The most important point is to put a restraining order on Bermen and Braga to make sure they come nowhere near this project.

The franchise needs to rest for more years. Occasional fans aren't clamouring for one, so why push it? If you ARE going to attempt another one, bring in Ron Moore? Any of the TNG shows he was involved in as a writer were very rich and he's only gotten better with BSG. Oh, and if you want a villian, why wouldn't you bring back Q?! Why try and invent a new one each time around?

Reboot the series move 80 to 100 years from the end of Voyager and have the federation beginning galactic exploration, that brings undue attention to our galaxy in the form of other galactic aliens that view our exploration as a threat and retaliate via invasion. But they don't do it stupidly. No no no... first they explore our galaxy understand who the primary powers are then attack each of them EXCEPT for the Federation, whom is now suspected of collaboration by the other major powers (Dominion, Borg, and Romulans) thus the federation is now slowing being isolated because the galactic invaders realize that only a united galactic force could stop them. Could create a lot of racial tensions, and even political messes by higher up Federation types thinking that this isn't a big deal. I'm tired of villains waving their hands and saying, "here I am get me". I'd rather see the plot unfold throughout the season and the horror at discovering the scope of it. My 2 cents!

Refer back to the same thing I wrote last time and every time star trek 11 news hits for my comments on this. Well, that's what most of you guys are doing, I just don't retype the same thing over and over like most of you.

Iracors and wessmith both your ideas would be good for tv shows. Still no one would watch and they'd be canceled.

Brannon and Braga were ok at the beginning, but got tired on the way, which is normal, considering the number of versions the franchise had. I'm not THAT impressed with Abrams' work. I like it, but with reserve. My secret wet dream would be to have a Nolan&Goyer-type point of view on Trek. I'm saying "type" because I want the originals to give me those "Batman Continues" ;)

On the contrary, Berman and Braggart should be forced to sit in a room and watch Voyager from S1 to S7 consecutively with out any break for restroom or food while Jeri Ryan dances nude in the background...then we'll be closer to being even for what they did to the franchise. A Lost version of ST might be interesting IF they follow the ST canon and not make new stuff up to satisfy the script, and it must NOT be set back in the early TOS era. No more Kirk and Spock. Hell, ew cannot even get rid of Bill Shatner now with him turning up every damn place on TV and the net...all he would do is bitch and complain about why he could not play the part and use CGI to make him look younger. The chap who suggested we blow up the Enterprise-E and turn the movie into a ST/CSI type of movie would be awesome. Let's have it happen in the Bajorn sector so we can pull in DS9 characters and perhaps he Domionion to some extent. We could find out that the Enterprise was destory by some plot to overthrow the Federation..and with the Lost crew doing it, you know they could lace up the franchise with more unanswered questions than not which would give us more better quality movies and maybe a whole new cast to work with.

I just want to reiterate that I was referring to a series. Films set in the past just bug the shit outta me especially if it is re-imagining canon and having Kirk meet Spock in the Academy which is not canon at all. I donno... I'm just really dismayed by the whole thing and getting more and more dispaired as this lack of continuity planning seems to be developing.
