Bubblegum Crisis Collection 1 (UK)
May 11, 2002
What They SayThe Review! One of the first DVDs to be released in the uk brings us the classic Bubblegum Crisis.
The disc itself is good quaility for a uk release, with good quaility video and both the english and japanese audio tracks presented in stereo sound. I found no major faults with this disc at all. The menu wasnt the greatest of things. I found it hard to navigate from portion to portion with it not being well labeled. The extras wernt up to much for non DVD rom owners, with only getting the cel art gallery. DVD Rom however does offer Liner Notes and Song lyrics.
Now on to the anime itself. Its a classic release dating from 1987, its set in Megatokyo in 2032. Robots known as boomers have become part of every day soeity, they are produced by the 'evil' GENOM Corporation.
Que our saviours, the knight sabers. A Group of females in productive amour here to save the day against the evil rogue boomers. In the episodes on this disc we find them being hired by the USSD in order to recover a 'black box' which can control there particle beam satelites in deep space. There is 3 episodes on this disc which go under the title 'Mason' whom is one of the genom employees who makes it his personal battle to fight these Knight Sabers, with a deathmatch on the GENOM tower.
I found this disc great viewing, with very minor faults. Its good to see MVM taking the effort (and cost) of placing both English and Japanese audio tracks on this disc. My only major fault with this disc was the lack of good extras and a poorly laid out menu which could be improved on.
