"Buffy" comic gets second printing

Date: Friday, March 16, 2007

Dark Hose comics has announced that they will head back to press on the first issue of the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight comic.

"Admittedly, our expectations were already gigantic, but this has surpassed even those," said Dirk Wood, Dark Horse's director of marketing. "We couldn't be happier about how this has launched and have high hopes for upcoming issues."

The upcoming second printing will feature a full-bleed version of the Jo Chen cover, with some of the design elements removed for a cleaner look, the company said. It is expected in stores March 28, a week before the release of issue number two.

This issue was amazing! I had mediocre expectations and high anticipation, and it blew me away.
It felt so much like the tv series was at its best. I love how the characters are evolving, and the action is great.
The art is amazing, too - I really, really enjoyed this.

I enjoyed this so much I'm going to write a review on it here.

I'm not even a Buffy fan and I want to read this...but that's only after reading Whedon's Xmen book. Great stuff.

I actually thought the art, aside from a few noteworthy pages (i.e. the Dawn two-pager) was mediocre at best. Most of the time, the characters looked little like their real-life counter-parts, and were not very consistent from panel-to-panel. Other than that minor complaint, the issue was a fantastic read. This first issue also has to have the most enjoyable retcons ever... one that makes an already enjoyable episode from season five of Angel reach new levels of hilarity. Best single issue I have read in recent memory.

I wrote that review a couple days back now (Friday night, late, I believe . . .) but it is still awaiting review by a mod.

EDIT - Actually posted it Saturday afternoon - so it's not been that much a wait. My bad.

Can you link the review? I'm not sure why, but I can't find it.

My review is still "awaiting moderation from Mania."

I'm hoping they are just busy or something. I can see it in my reviews.

EDIT = I tried editing my Buffy review, changed the wording of a sentence, and poof it appeared. Weird. Y'all can read it now.
