There's been more talk of the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER spin-off TV series, this time from the potential program's star, Anthony Stewart Head.
According to The London Sunday Times, the developing program is currently going by the name of THE WATCHER and focusing on Rupert Giles and his roots of being a part of the secret organization of Watchers.
While talking to the Times, Head spoke of what we can expect from the Giles centered series. The actor revealed to the paper that the new program will be like the flavor of the original Brit CRACKER TV series with ghosts and demons, the latter of which will be more of the "personal variety."
BUFFY creator, Joss Whedon, is looking to launch THE WATCHER with six episodes. Head revealed that current plans are to have each episode of the initial six be crafted in feature length format to allow the series to be more palatable to and thus picked up for American television.
Meanwhile, the BBC seems to be playing this whole thing very carefully, telling the paper that the series is "still embryonic."
Head will appear in only a few episodes of BUFFY when the program returns in its new UPN slot in the fall. Afterwards, the actor will focus his talents on material in England, where his family resides.
