BUFFY's Gellar holds a GRUDGE

Actress to star in new horror film

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER star Sarah Michelle Gellar will headline THE GRUDGE, the American remake of the Japanese horror film JU-ON. The original picture's director, Takashi Shimizu, will also helm the remake for Columbia Pictures. Filming on THE GRUDGE is scheduled to commence in late January in Japan's Toho Studios.

Originally announced last week in the trades, THE GRUDGE is a ghost story about a curse that befalls people, working themselves into a rage that eventually causes their deaths. The curse passes along to others like a virus.
