If the end of
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER has got you feeling the blues, better invest in a next gen game system if you want more of the Slayer. Today Vivendi Universal Games announced that the second
BUFFY video game, titled
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: CHAOS BLEEDS, will be released for the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube systems this coming August.
The game is being presented as a "lost" episode from the fifth season of the TV show. During that season a goddess from another dimension named Glory threatened to open a rift between worlds and it was up to Buffy to stop Glory and save the world. According to inside sources, Glory does not appear in the new
BUFFY game.
Along with getting to play as Buffy, you'll also be able to play as Spike, Willow, Xander, Faith the other vampire slayer and a lesser known character named Sid the Dummy. Each of the characters has their own unique tricks and abilities, and some of the show's talent will voice their characters for the game. (It's still unknown which
BUFFY cast members will be included.)
The game is expected to be rated Teen and priced at $49.99.
UPDATE!: Thanks to two readers who've contacted us, we know a bit more about one of the playable characters in the new
BUFFY game as well as who won't be appearing in the game.
Our first friend told us that Sid the Dummy is not a new character, really. He's a ventroliquist's dummy and appeared in the ninth episode of the first season, titled "The Puppet Show". Our scooper speculates that Sid might be a character the player unlocks after achieving some goal, but the info we read made it sound like Sid can be played right from the start.
The second scooper claims to be involved in a key area with the design of the game, and according to them Glory is not mentioned or seen in
CHAOS BLEEDS at all. "She's not in it, she's not mentioned, she's got nothing to do with the plot or the dimensional bleed," writes our scooper. The confusion comes from a press release issued today said the game takes place during the fifth season of the show, as well as the mention of the dimensional bleed that Glory wanted to open. (If our source is reading these words, drop us a line with your email so we can thank you.)
