Actor Ty Burrell (Dawn of the Dead remake) has indicated in an interview with the Mail Tribune that he will be playing the role of Doc Samson in the upcoming INCREDIBLE HULK. While talking to the paper, he said he will be playing the psychiatrist who exposed himself to siphoned radiation, a character whose power was determinded by the length of his hair. He's joining Edward Norton (Hulk), Liv Tyler(Betty Ross), Tim Roth (Emil Blonsky/Abomination), William Hurt (General Ross), Tim Blake Nelson (Samuel Stern/The Leader), Christina Cabot, Lou Ferrigno and Martin Starr.

Plot Summary: Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) desperately hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells and unleashes the unbridled force of rage within him: The Hulk.

Living in the shadows--cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler)--Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power.

As all three grapple with the secrets that led to The Hulk's creation, they are confronted with a monstrous new adversary known as The Abomination (Tim Roth), whose destructive strength exceeds even The Hulk's own. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice: accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or find heroism in the creature he holds inside--The Incredible Hulk.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK hits theaters June 13, 2008.

phew... for a split second there I read that name next to Lou Ferrigno as MATHEW STARR. LOL!
so Bruce has to choose between a cure that would end his Hulkiness or fighting for good as the Hulk for ...ever?
why does it take hollywood 200 years to adapt the stories we really want to see? like THE GREY HULK they will never do.They will never do a live action Death of Superman, or Knightfall storyline. Adapting a graphic novel shouldnt be that much more difficult or time consuming than adapting a book.

He was good at playing a self centered prick in Dawn of the Dead,,,,I am really looking forward to this movie...It has a great cast and a director that knows action.

I guess he`ll be part CGI, like the Hulk. I mean correct me if I`m wrong but Doc Samson is pretty diesel with long green hair.

There we go--let's have a Powers of Matthew Starr movie. Or Automan!

pony, I would say this dude is going to play Sampson before the exposure to gamma radiation... at least I hope, to be honest, I always hated Sampson. The only time he ever served a purpose is when he combined Hulks personalities during Peter David's run. The whole hair thing was gay.... not that there is anything wrong with that.

Whiskey I agree with you. It's funny though how this movie seems to be flying below the radar as opposed to Batman or even Ironman. I think this is going to be awesome.
As for Doc Samson, it has to be prior to transformation. But hopefully they'll work that in or at least leave it open for the next film, at which point you will be needing a different actor. Not CGI though for Doc as he is pretty normal in size. That is if 6'6" and 350 is normal. Well at least I don't think that's big enough for CGI.

''The whole hair thing was gay.... not that there is anything wrong with that''

Madmanic999...,there is something wrong being gay according to your comments since you are using it as something negative towards someone...this is childish comments made by a childish person.

Back to the subject, I guess this is interesting news to have Doc Samson in the movie. This guy is obviously hired to play the before gamma powered stage of Doc Samson but he's cool and hopefully they will try to show the psychiatrist side of Doc more then the green hair hero.

Should be interesting.

Okay, I don't generally jump in to defend other posters, but jedibanner... don't do that.
Madmaniac999 wasn't making a prejudiced remark. The slang expression about something being gay ("Oh man... 'Superman Returns' was gay!") is just that; a slang expression. It's used by millions of people on a daily basis and doesn't mean that the user has a negative attitude toward folks of a different sexual orientation. Just as calling someone a 'Black Sheep', doesn't mean that the user is a racist.
I was having a conversation with my girlfriend on the phone last night... things got a bit 'Shmoopy, shmoopy' for a moment, we laughed and she said: "Listen to us. We're so gay."
So... we're bad people?
Madmaniac never made a personal judgement. You, on the other hand did. You may not appreciate his choice of phrase (that's your right) but where do you get off telling him he's childish?
When you jump on insignificant use of phrase (perhaps poorly chosen... but good luck erasing it from the mass-conciousness), you deflect attention from the REAL homophobes and racists; folks who are doing alot worse things than saying they thought a superheroes power "was gay".

Here Here!!! Well put!

''Don't do that''??

I don't think so.

You say Mellow ''The slang expression about something being gay ("Oh man...'Superman Returns' was gay!") is just that; a slang expression. It's used by millions of people on a daily basis and doesn't mean that the user has a negative attitude toward folks of a different sexual orientation''.

that is making NO sense at all. Just because people use this ''slang'' doesn't mean it's OK to use it.

I'm using the term childish because that's when people (or kids) uses terms they probably don't fully understand the consequences of using a term like this. People might use the term ''gay'' without thinking there is no harm done (which I believe most people use it without wanting to harm anyone) but, some people DO use this term as a negative thing and to have other people use the same words for ''another meaning'', in the end no one wins by calling people names (which I know I use the term childish to prove my point which I won't anymore).

the real homophobes use slang like this to insult people, why would other people use the same words for something else?

It might appear insignificant to you Mellow but, for gay people, I can tell you it's not appreciated or appropriate in ANY circomstance, that's why I'm bringing this up.

Hulk rules!!!
