Director Tim Burton has shown a knack for bringing peculiar characters to life on the silver screen so it seems only natural that he would want to bring about the adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Deadline is reporting that he finishes adapting Dark Shadows and his stop-motion projects of Frankenweenie and The Addams Family, the director could move on towards a theatrical version of Ransom Riggs' children's book. The only question remains as to whether Burton will fit it into his schedule anytime soon.
Plot Concept: A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here—one of whom was his own grandfather—were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

Yea I have seen this book a couple of times at barnes and noble and thought it looked pretty interesting. I may have to pick this one up. It is something worth looking into the story idea is pretty interesting and the reviews have been pretty positive online
I'm a fan of Burton for the most part and it does sound interesting. I just hope he doesn't cast Depp or his wife for any roles for once
Burton has some kind of fetish for putting white make up on Johnny Depp. Visually, Burton is a master...his story telling falls flat.
Ditto what Wiseguy said about Depp & Carter. As much as I have come to cringe when I hear Burton's name attached to certain projects, at least you always know what you are going to get from him. There's something to be said for that.
This sounds like a fantastic idea and right up Burton's style.
