Buy Your Way on the WOLVERINE Set?

This is some of the strangest news I've seen in a while. I first thought it was a joke or an error but apparently, it's legit. Hugh Jackman and the upcoming WOLVERINE creators are giving away a day on the set of the clawed superhero in Australia. Perhaps, it's going to a charity of Jackman's choosing but they're giving everyone an opportunity to "bid" for the chance to win this day alongside Mr. Jackman on the set of the film for up to 2 people. Production will begin on this origin tale very soon with hopes that they get principal photography finished before the impending strike next June. The film still has a 2008 release so it's most likely hitting theaters next fall.

So, it IS an origin tale?

I love Wolverine and I'm hoping for the best. But I've had a bad feeling about this movie since it was announced and stunts like this only reinforces my sentiment. These days directors usually go the extra mile to keep things secret, so it makes me curious as to why they're just going to open it up.

Here is my bid.

In the words of the paperboy in "BETTER OFF DEAD"....."Two dollars!"

I really hope the winning bid does go to charity and not in Fox's pockets. That'd be pretty selfish on the studio's part to keep the money for themselves.

I still somehow suspect Fox will pressure Gavin Hood to have this film ready for a June/July 2008 release. They did the same thing to Singer in putting together the first X-Men film in order to have a summer tentpole release.
