EA Games to Develop Star Wars Games

All for the Mouse!

By Robert T. Trate     May 06, 2013
Source: IGN.com

Daemon Hatfield of IGN reported yesterday that EA Games has acquired the Star Wars license from Disney. That’s right, EA Games will now be publishing Star Wars games for the Mouse. EA will develop the core games for the gamers and the platform systems. Where Disney will retain the rights to develop games for the tablets, phones, and so fourth.

EA Games has already announced that 3 studios are already developing Star Wars games.

Battlefield Developer: DICE

Dead Space Developer: Visceral Games

Mass Effect Developer: BioWare

Could DICE develop/ finish Battlefronts 3? Could we see a new Boba Fett game? What will happen to Star Wars 1313?

Check out IGN’s report below.

That's good news, can't wait to see what comes up next, hope the Battlefront 3 doesn't come out on the new PS4 though.

EA and their microtransaction fixation kinda deters me from their games, but it's cool to see that the star wars game franchise isn't dying out with the disbandment of LucasArts.

EA is the new Activision. 10-15 years ago Activision pushed games out that were just not finished.. today EA is doing basically the same thing.. caring less about the product and more about the profit.

They put out so much though that occasionally something sneaks through that works, so we will see.

If they make a new Battlefront game is till be for the PS4 and the next X Box for sure. I hope that they give the game to some of the people over at DICE to make a next gen battlefront game in the BF4 Frost Bite 3 engine. That would kick so much ass it would make my head explode. BF3 and 4 maps are massive. it would be amazing.

There is also word in the underground that the Star Wars 13213 game may be passed along to a third party dev like Viscera, the creators of the Dead Space games.

Here is more evidence to back up the rumors.  This is Gamasutra, a site devoted to game developers.

"The EA studios creating those "core" Star Wars games are Battlefield developer DICE, Dead Space developer Visceral Games and BioWare, which has plenty of spacefaring experience with Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic."

My bet again is Battlefront 3 and Star Wars 1313.

BioWare, awesomeness!

I was looking forward to 1313 and another battlefront would be cool, but I really want another game like Galactic Battlegrounds or Empire at War.  Those were amazing.

Yeah, as I played through all 3 Mass Effect games, I thought to myself, you know, these are great games. But I wonder what it would be like if we applied that gameplay inside the Star Wars universe. I may get that answer. And be fine with it.
