I also did not like IWAV.  It wasn't horrible, just not that great.  So yeah I'll wait till this comes to TV maybe.

Wow almost you're becoming a regular negative nancy around here. What's happened to you?:)

I think this looks ok. I do think it seems to have a similar structure as IWAV did, I'll probably check it out.

Don't know if IWAV is the best vampire film ever but it's definitely amongst the tops of the genre

I think this looks pretty damn cool. I really enjoyed IWAV, never having read the book, and this does seem to have that same feel - a story told throughout centuries. Definitely a movie I'd be wiling to invest my entertainment dollars on.

Zillaman, why do you always post the same thing twice? Once, or twice, I get it, but it's like every damn time... Just curios.

What is everyone's favorite "Vampire" movie (Best vampire film ever)?

My favorite of all time is Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman. Timeless... even today, the SFX and cinematography are so amazing and so many trippy shots/scenes, it still blows me away.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium 2/4/2013 10:23:10 PM

Mine's "Throw Momma from the Train".

Wiseguy 2/5/2013 4:30:27 AM

@ momitchell I'm sure you mean "favorite" after the Twilight films....right?

I like so many it's hard for me to name one. Plus the fact that "vampires" encompass so many genres and alterations.

Guess in superhero mode Blade 2, action film Near Dark, horror film Bram Stoker's Dracula, comedy Dracula Dead and Loving It. IWAV deserves its own category...maybe a sort of realistic take?, comedy/action Dawn to Dusk. Where do I place Fright Night, Lost Boys, Salem's Lot, 30 Days of Night.......

See now I'm looking for categories to place films in...it's impossible to narrow it down to 1 film given so many takes on the genre...at least for me.

OK gun to my head I may have to go with Bram Stoker's Dracula the 90s version

momitchell7 2/5/2013 10:32:09 AM

What was the name of that cool 80's sci-fi vampire movie - where the "vampires" were more like an alien life-form (I think)? AH! Is that it? Life Force?! That was pretty cool, but that would have to go under the category of "Sci-Fi Vampire Movie".

Yeah, I think most of us here wouldn't even consider the Twilight films.

And yeah, MJEq I'd definitely put Throw Momma From the Train right up there, near the top, too.

Near Dark is always up there, I enjoy Underworld, I find Vampire in Brooklyn a guilty pleasure along with Innocent Blood. Lost Boys is fun. I dislike almost anything too heavily based on stoker's work.

No one has made a truely epic Vampire Movie.

After 900 movies and a dozen TV series about Vampires can there be an original idea in that genre.  I've said it before...I like my vampires to be evil demons from hell (you know the kind that back away when they see a cross).  Not into romantic horror movies for a Saturday night out with the little woman...whether it's the Twilight Saga or Phantom of the Opera (the musical).  Maybe I'm wrong about this but I'll wait until it comes to cable to find out.

I like so many Vampire flicks can't list them all -  Nosferatu (1922 and 1979 versions),   Dracula as played by Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee and Frank Langella but not John Carradine or Gary Oldman, both Fright Nights, 30 Days of Night (but not the sequel) Near Dark (Paxton's great), and Salem's Lot

Hated Lost Boys (kids shooting Holy water at vampires).  Only watch Underworld flicks to see Kate Beckinsale.  Thought Cruise's LeStat was the best thing about IWAV.

Most interesting obscure Vampire Movies - Shadow of the Vampire with Malkovich and Dafoe, Night Flier with Miguel Ferrer, The Hunger with Bowie and Deneuve, and Andy Warhol's Blood for Dracula
