So if you're shooting the 'Iconic American story'...maybe you should shoot it in the American Southwest?
I read yesterday that Matt Smith doesn't plan to hang around long enough in the role of The Doctor to be in the big movie that's in the works. A shame, really. From what he was saying, it sounds as though he would like to do the movie. He just doesn't want to have to stay on the show for another four or five years, and that's how long he expects the movie to take before it gets going.
Heard that Mary Tamm who played Romana during Tom Baker's stint as Doctor had die on the 26th.
@Pendragon0 - Do you mean shoot it in the American Southwest as they did with famous westerns such as : "The Magnificent Seven", "A Fistful of Dollars" , "For a Few Dollars More" , "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Death Rides a Horse", "Once Upon a Time in the West", "The Valley of Gwangi", "El Cóndor", "The Deserter", "Hannie Caulder", and dozens of films shot in italian and dubbed into english for the US market.
All of these were filmed in Almería, Spain. And Almeria is where the episode was filmed . . . just like the above films. I think Moffatt was using IRONY .
Can't wait for new WHO!
SPOILERS
Especially once Amy Pond is off the show!!
About three seconds after I posted I thought about every Sergio Lione film ever made, so in that regard, Touche. But unless I am completely insane, The Magnificent Seven was shot in MEXICO. If I'm wrong...I don't think I am...I'll own up to it.
You're not wrong Pendragon. The Magnificent Seven was shot in Mexico. That's why all of the pesants are wearing clean white clothes. The representative from Mexico that was overseeing the shoot insisted that the Mexicans appearing in the film not be portrayed as being dirty. The fact that they were all meant to be farmers who toiled away in the dirt every day wasn't relevant.
Ah. yes you are both correct. My Almería location source for TM7 had incorrectly claimed it, but as you rightly say it was filmed in Mexico.
IMDB clearly lists the studio and outside locations. My bad on that one for not cross checking the location for that film. I will now go out and shoot my current source and flagellate my self with a copy of Variety. ;)
Looking forward to more fantastic Dr. Who. This is one "reboot" that has been well worth it.
