Calling all Bulgarian Quidditch stars!

Auditions for a central character in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE are underway in Bulgaria

The online news source Ananova reports that children in Bulgaria are anxiously anticipating their audition for the part of Quidditch champ Victor Krum, a new character that we'll get to see in the fourth HARRY POTTER movie. Krum is the captain of the Bulgarian Quidditch team and a budding love interest for Hogwarts student Hermione Granger, and the producers are hoping to cast a true Bulgarian child in the part. The first round of auditions will take place in Bulgaria's capital of Sofia this week, and the finialists will then be flown to London for a meeting with producers and another audition.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE sees a Quidditch World Cup held at Hogwarts, with the Bulgarian team one of the stars of the event. POTTER novelist J.K. Rowling thought to make the character of Krum a Bulgarian after the country's real-life mens soccer team advanced to fourth place in the 1994 World Cup. According to Rowling, Krum is supposed to walk with a slouch and have big, bushy eyebrows and a crooked nose.

Filming on the fourth HARRY POTTER movie is expected to kick off in April.
