A year and a half after DreamWorks and producer Walter Parkes confirmed they had plans to bring The Fall Guy into a theater near you, Deadline reports they may have a well-respected director to resurrect the '80s TV franchise character. The online trade reports that Martin Campbell is eyeing the project as his next possible feature film, based on a screenplay by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class). Cambbell recently brought The Green Lantern into theaters and other credits include Casino Royale, Goldeneye and the two Zorro films.

Plot Concept: Based on the series which aired on ABC from 1981 to 1986, the story centered on Colt Seavers (Lee Majors), a Hollywood stuntman by day and bounty hunter by night. He often incorporated his stunts into his bounty-hunting, flying vehicles (his trademark large pickup especially) over large objects, jumping from impossibly high angles and doing other things '80s heroes did to nab the people they were chasing. Heather Thomas co-starred and often got into trouble with him.

Four words "Six Billion Dollar Man"

Yeah, ztigr, I'd love to see a Six Billion Dollar Man movie done more. I don't know who owns the rights but its probably gathering dust somewhere.

A Fall Guy movie could be fun. I thought the A-Team movie was great and they should do this one in that style. Unfortunately, The A-Team wasn't very successful.

When I saw Cambbel I thought Bruce for a minute.  He would be a great Fall Guy...  to bad.

I thought the same thing, larkcall.  Only reason I clicked on the link.

This is interesting. I wonder if they'd want the lead character's stunts to be "bigger" in this particular version? Whatever the case, they'd need to modify the lyrics in the opening theme. For instance, a lot of today's movie-goers don't quite know who "Farah" is...

Hey if you guys are interested in The Six Million Dollar Man,  Kevin Smith is writing The Bionic Man comic for Dynamite Entertainment with covers drawn by Alex Ross. It's pretty good, Check it out at your local comic bookshop.

Only person that could play the Fall Guy: Nathan Fillion. It is like that role was made for him.

I'm on the fence on this, hope it turns out great but not holding my breath. If it wasn't for the prospect of seeing Heather Thomas in bikini I probably wouldn't have watched as many episodes of this as I did.

Okay, remember this TV show well.  It make the A Team look like Shakspeare.  So, is what happens if you make a major flop of a get dropped down to resurrecting bad TV shows?

Calibur454 11/1/2011 3:23:55 PM

Pretty soon they will start making live action movies out of old cartoons. Oh wait......

um you guys get the idea. I honestly smell Dukes of Hazzard Redux all over this one.
