After Suwati, the love-struck Goddess of Happiness, gives Kenta the power to seduce seven different women, he receives more than his fair share of "luck." Everywhere he goes, Kenta finds his path strewn with willing women who fall into his arms.
However, when the Powers That Be discover what Suwati has done, shes left in a sticky situation. And Kentas so busy adding names to his little black book, he barely notices Suwati at all, or her sexy cousin, Shuree, either.
As the body count soars and the pressure mounts, both goddesses decide its time to bare their souls and maybe a little bit more. Kenta hasnt got a prayer! The Review!
The light and fun hentai releases of days gone by continue with Can Can Bunny, a title that doesnt quite do the series justice.Audio:
This release was never dubbed and no new one produced, the only track we have here is a pretty basic stereo mix. The majority of dialogue is through the center channel while the music and some of the louder effects utilize the full soundstage, but this is a pretty typical mix. Dialogue is nice and clear throughout and we had no problems in the form of dropouts or distortions.Video:
Originally released back in 1996, the transfer for the episodes here looks decent but has some minor issues. The main thing thats obvious right from the start is a softness to the show and that doesnt help during some of the scenes throughout the show where some of the characters, particularly those with light sea-green hair, tend to look a bit more fuzzy around the edges. Cross coloration shows up in a few areas as well as some light aliasing, but its mainly the softness that causes the problems. The occasional nick and scratch are barely noticeable, though those attuned to jitter during scene changes may be more distracted by this release.Packaging:
A nice bright but not offensive pink colored background with the lead character bouncing in the center in all her alluring glory is a real highlight here, as they manage to properly titillate here with her pose and smile, though its interesting that the hair color here is nothing like it is in the show. The back cover provides some photograph pictures of the various women in the show and some amusing background imagery. The shows summary is pretty decent and theres the standard listing of production credits. The technical side is a bit weak since it doesnt list what languages are on the disc, which would cause someone wanting a dub to be rather upset at this release. The insert has a different pose of our lead character and the logo on one side while the back side has the discs chapter listings and some artwork for other shows.Menu:
The menu continues with the bright pink look, though its a bit more saturated here than on the cover. The menu is a static piece with the logo and the 7 figures lined up through the center. Some of the opening song plays during this, though you wont hear much of if since theres almost nothing to do on the disc but to play the show or check out the trailers. Access times are nice and fast and its very easy to get around.Extras:

One of the things I absolutely try to not do when talking about a show is to illustrate how similar it is to any other show. Sometimes though, particularly with hentai, its almost impossible not to. With only a few brief words, you can sum up an entire release very easily.
Can Can Bunny is essentially Oh My Goddess gone hentai.
Ok, theres differences, but once you work off of the basic formula, you know what youre getting. Were introduced to Kenta, a young hard working man whose just at the end of his rope over never getting lucky. Having heard his friend and neighbor getting lucky again, he stands up in his apartment and demands that the gods give him his due. Poof! Out of thin air appears Suwati, the goddess of happiness who has come to grant his wish. Kenta doesnt quite believe this at first, but decides to go along with it and his basic wish is to make love to a whole lot of women.
Now, part of this is strange early on, and its probably my unfamiliarity with the title, but Suwati initially talks with Kenta as if he should know her, whereas hes acting like its the first time hes seen her. This comes up a few more times throughout these episodes but isnt explained much. The most we get out of this is that Suwati is very much in love with Kenta and wants to make love to him, but if she becomes real and physical so that he can touch her, she ends up in some seriously bad trouble with the powers above.
But, being the good goddess she is, she gives him what he wants and draws upon seven stars in the sky. The stars end up inside various women who will be drawn to him and will have their way with him. So Kenta begins his journey. Its a rather good one as well, with pretty much all consensual interactions. Theres an amusing rivalry between two women that he gets involved in and ends up bedding both, theres an aspiring manga artist that he gets involved with and then an area where things get supernatural and he ends up helping a woman whose family history is haunting them at the hospital where she works as a nurse.
Added into the mix, to make things even more complicated for Suwati, is her cousin Shuree. Shurees pretty much the wild child goddess who cant see what Suwati sees in Kenta or why shes going to all the effort. Of course, she ends up helping out in various areas and even starts to get a little turned on by Kenta as he ends up growing and maturing. But mostly, Shuree ends up being there to help Suwati deal with the results of her having pulled down the seven stars, something thats going to cause her to be betrothed to some ancient god.
Can Can Bunny was a rather enjoyable show, particularly since I do have a fondness for the Oh My Goddess formula if done well. The animation is decent for the most part, the sex scenes are well done if not overly explicit and the actual encounters are a lot of fun with very good looking women. This is another title that Id say easily fits in the couples-friendly genre, and those usually garner recommendations from me. With the comedy, good clean sex and solid character designs, this show is one that Im looking forward to seeing more of.
