It seems that Capcom and Sony are partnering up for a new RESIDENT EVIL that will stand seperate from the Screen Gems franchise of RE films. It will be done in the same vein as the Square-Enix adapted Final Fantasy: Advent Children film, a full-length CG-animated film based on the best selling Capcom franchise of games. The film will be targeted towards Japanese audiences and the title is BIOHAZARD: DEGENERATION. It's expected to hit Japan sometime in 2008.

At this time, we do not know when it will hit other territories such as the US or whether it will be theatrical here in the states or a DVD-release. Capcom will have more of a hand in this upcoming CG adaptation, something they don't control on the Paul W. S Anderson adapted films.

Here in the U.S.A. they better put it straight to dvd. I can see this totally bombing in the theater, especially after a live action R.E. I don't see too many people rushing out to see a C.G. one. Even if it is a totally different story-line.

oh good, I wasnt the only one that was less than impressed with FF:Advent Children despite the Oober cool popcorn effects, the movie was just flippin borring... I actually enjoyed FF:Spirits Within but the best example was Appleseed from a few years back... that movie was just cool on all levels.
still, i'm looking foward to Beowolf since that is in the same vein as the final Fantasy/AppleSeed cgi movies (hyper realistic CGI) who knows...we can dub this one CGI:RE hopefully it will be good but recently(generally) movies like this dont play in theaters anyway (at least in the US) I was very surprised when Batman: Mask of the Phantasm played in the theaters but after that... none of the WB DC animated flicks have done that. All went directly to DVD.

Why is everyone bringing up Final Fantasy? That has NOTHING to do with Resident Evil, two completely different genres people. Just because nobody wanted to see long haired pretty boys jumping around in their "Fantasy", doesn't mean horror fans wouldn't love to see some CGI zombie and mutant action! I'd love to see this on the big screen, but as long as it comes to the States on DVD, I'll still be happy.

If this is supposed to be Resident Evil than why is the the main title BIOHAZARD?

audioslave69 • Oct 30, 2007, 12:10am •
Mozz72 , Biohazard is the original japanese name, they changed it when they exported it out side of japan to Resident evil.

If it comes in theaters ill be there and if its a direct dvd ill still be there buying it.

Yes, Biohazard is the name for this series in Japan, Moz. Since the CG-Film is primarily getting released in Japan first, it's sticking with it's title...I'm sure if it gets international distribution, it will be called Resident Evil: Degeneration here in the states.

Not sure why everyone's going off on Advent Children...I just mentioned it would be done in the same vein..i.e CG-film. They're both managed by two entirely different developers..Capcom manages RE/Biohazard...Square-Enix manages the FF franchise.

I would have thought some Resident Evil fans would be happy they may get a seperate film linked closer to the Game series..since Capcom is co-producing this film.
