Capcom confirms "Resident Evil 4" on Wii

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Monday, April 09, 2007

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 4 will be released on the Nintendo Wii with a Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition.  It is scheduled for a summer release.

The Wii Edition will use the system's motion-sensing controller for functions like aiming and shooting, and Capcom promises all of Resident Evil 4's original game play systems have been kept intact in the conversion. It will also include all of the extra content added to the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

Capcom has previously revealed a separate project which will revisit the settings of the first three games, but it currently has no release date set.

NO! I love RE4, but why won't they just include the Wii for the release of RE5? Plus, I've already played the first four to death. I want something new.

Wasn't RE4 a gamecube title BEFORE it was ported to PS2? And now its being ported to Wii (which can play the Gamecube game)?? Its not like Capcom to pimp a game to death. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play Super Street Fighter II Turbo: The Ultimate Championship.

The Wii is getting a new RE game later this year.

True, bdd. But I've heard that it just rehashes parts of the first three or four, changing the gameplay but not really advancing the plot. In essence, if I understand it, it's just going back to the first few but with RE4's camera style and gameplay style.

It is doing that, but it also seems to close the whole plot with the Unbrella company off. So it seems to me they are doing a game where they show parts from past games leading up to finally ending the Umbrella story. RE5 for the 360 and PS3 are a completely new storyline, so hopefully the Wii version will close off all the past storylines.
